We leave the City of Sails (Auckland) at 10am. Today we head to the golden beaches & warm waters of the Bay of Islands with some beautiful beach stops on the way. Take out boogie boards for a splash or relax on the warm sands. We head to camp via the thriving town of Paihia (gatewau to the Bay of Islands) with the opportunity to enjoy a mangrove walk and thundering Haruru waterfalls. (Dinner)

Today is a full day to enjoy the best of the Bay of Island’s clear turquoise waters. There’s an excellent range of hikes, bike rides and optional activities today with somethig to suit every taste. Whether its a bike ride, hike, dolphin swim. diving or sailing you will get to see some spectacular sights in this subtropical micro-region known for its stunning beauty & history. (Breakfast, Dinner)

A day full of adventure. We head off from the Bay of Islands to the rugged and soulful East Coast. Our first stop is at the the giant dunes of Opononi, for beach fun & optional sand boarding. For those who are keen we have an excellent cycle option to view the giant Kauri trees. Travel Hibiscus Coast to our beach side camp with hot pools and water slides nearby – perfect. Meals (Breakfast & Dinner)

Excellent camp site located by the beach and the hot pools - an inspirational spot for sunset photography.

An early start as we head back through Auckland to collect new passengers. Depart Auckland at 10am (Day 1 for those joining in Auckland and heading south first). The beautiful Coromandel Peninsula awaits so bring your swim gear. Enjoy a great coastal walk or kayak the coast to Cathedral Cove. Visit unique Hot Water Beach to dig your own thermal pool. Coastal cycle to beachside camp. (Breakfast & Dinner)

Holiday camp near Hot Water Beach with excellent facilities. Cabins are also available for a small extra charge (subject to availability).

Today we head to the the thermal wonderland of Rotorua. For the keen cyclist there is an early morning option. On the way south we enjoy a beach stop for a swim or a chance to stroll around a natural reserve brimming with Pohutukawa trees. After lunch it’s onto Rotorua where we give you time to soak up the atmosphere and sulphur of Rotorua and its thermal wonders. (Breakfast and Dinner) 

ACCOMODATION

Beautiful bush camp, upgrades not available but alternative accommodation will be found in the event of poor weather. 

Enjoy a relaxed start to the day before we check out the geysers & mud pools at Wai-O-Tapu (included free with your trip). There are plenty of walk and cycle options today as we head towards NZ’s largest lake – Taupo. We also take time to explore Huka Falls where over 220,000 litres of water thunder over the cliff face every second. Taupo is also considerd the North Island’s adrenalin capital so there’s no shortage of activity options. (Breakfast & Dinner)

Today you have the chance to hike the “Best Day Hike in New Zealand” – the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. If you’re not keen on this walk, you can choose from heaps of shorter walks or bike rides in the National Park. You also have the opportunity to go white water rafting. Towards the end of the day we head back to the beach, and camp along the Tasman Sea at the Kapiti Coast. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

SIGHTS

Optional Paid Activities: Tongariro Alpine Crossing, white water rafting (grade 3 rapids)

Heading south to the coolest little capital – Wellington! You have most of the day to experience some of Wellington’s awesome attractions such as Te Papa museum (which is free and highly recommended), Botanical Gardens and Zealandia. For those who are into Lord of the Rings there are some great tours for you to experience. (Breakfast)
