On boarding a luxury glass-roofed coach in Queenstown, travel along the shores of Lake Wakatipu and through rolling countryside to Te Anau for a morning tea break. The coach driver provides a commentary and interpretation material is available in foreign languages.

On reaching Milford Sound board a Nature Cruise for a leisurely cruise the full length of the fiord to the Tasman Sea. Nature Cruises have a relaxed and flexible itinerary that allows plenty of time to enjoy the scenery and wildlife and have special appeal for the independent traveller. An on board nature guide with specialist knowledge of the region’s history, flora and fauna provides detailed interpretation in English with a roving microphone. There is plenty of time available to explore points of interest and view the spectacular alpine scenery including waterfalls, rainforest and the towering peaks; and keep a lookout for wildlife including seals, dolphins and penguins when in season.

Can't comment on accommodation or meals as we've arranged our own meals and stayed back in Queenstown. However, the premium Milford tour ex-Queenstown is one of the highlights of our stay in the beautiful South Island of New Zealand. The bus trip was very restful with interesting commentary by our experienced bus driver, and the Milford Sound cruise is a remarkable experience that would be a must for every visitor. We've deeply appreciated the beauty of our nature, experienced a brief shower at the fresh rain-soaked waterfall by the edges of the deeply carved cliffs, came close to a herd of sun-baking seals, and even got to wave at a passenger cruise ship which was tiny by scale in comparison to the majestic peaks of the Milford mountains. As the weather improved more in the later afternoon, we were able to return home by air which is also another spectacular experience to view the amazing landscape (p.s. having done the helicopter tour a week before, the plane trip was less visceral but a quicker way to return home for dinner!). Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy the best of South Island.
