Crossing the Cook Strait

The 92km journey across the Cook Strait is not your ordinary ferry trip. It's a stunning three hour journey that sees you passing through the scenic Marlborough Sounds, across the mighty strait and past the beautiful rolling hills and coastline around Wellington.

If you're travelling with a vehicle, you can take this onto the Ferry with you - or alternatively, you can simply cross as a foot passenger. We suggest Interislander, and onboard you'll have WiFi, a cafe/restaurant and plenty of space to chill out or take in the views.

The ferries do fill up from time to time. To guarantee a spot, and to get the best fare, our advice is to book well in advance of your journey.
